2024 Volunteer and Pool Prep Opportunities

We are recruiting for the following pool prep and volunteer opportunities! Please sign up - or check back for new opportunities throughout the summer. Preseason Pool Prep 2024

All Full (Pool) member families beyond Year 1 of membership are requested to participate in pool prep. You can either join us on a pool prep evening, or if you can’t make it, sign up for a different pool prep option below. Only one member of each household needs to help.

  • Pool Scrub 2024: Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1, 5:30-7:30pm. On April 30th, the group will clean the shallow end of the pool, while on May 1st, the group will clean the deep end (with leadership by our esteemed rappelers) and the baby pool. Please pick a night to send a family member. Kids are welcome in the lawn area. Pizza will be provided! Sign up for your night here!

  • Pool Fill Group: Work with a small group of volunteers to help fill the pool! Help our Pool Committee Chair set up the pump to draw water from the pond.  Over the course of the next 3-4 days, rotate with the rest of the group to top off the pump with gas to keep it running.  Will require two to three short visits to COPOCO roughly compatible with your schedule and possibly a gas station run.   Sign up here!

  • Epoxy Pool Skimmers. This task should be done between May 1 and May 7, before the pool is filled up to the skimmers. This job is to fill cracks in the pool skimmers with epoxy to ensure a water tight seal. Sign up here! (Job filled)

  • Pool Skim and Vacuum, May 7th - 23rd. Spend an hour or two skimming the pool and set our robotic vacuum on the loose. It can be done on your own time on the particular day. Vacuum instructions will be provided. Sign up here!

Volunteer Tasks 2024

All Full and Tennis-only members are also requested to participate in 2 hours of volunteer work per season.

Getting Ready to Open

  • Spring Cleanup: May 4, 9am (rescheduled). Work with a group to get COPOCO ready for the season! Sign up here.

  • Remove Debris from Tennis Courts, prior to May 6. Work with Marty Walsh to remove sticks, stones and other debris from courts prior to their annual resurfacing. Sign up here!

  • Spring Cleanup Tasks, May 1 - 24. We have a set of tasks that can be completed on your own time prior to opening in May. Examples range from shopping, rebuilding a tennis gate, to fitting astroturf around the baby pool. Please check out the list and sign up here!

  • Spring Planting Committee: Work with a group to convert weed patch in lawn to perennial bed and plant a few small trees near the courts. Sign up here!

Committees

  • Pool Facility Committee: We are looking to build out our Pool Facility Committee. If you are interested in learning how our pool works (including what all those pumps in the back room do) this may be the volunteer match for you. Sign up here!

  • Membership Committee: Help our membership chair recruit new members by helping to advertise, field inquiries and give tours, and onboard new members. Sign up here!

  • Tennis Social Committee: We are looking for a group interested in developing a series of tennis-oriented social events this season! The first meeting will be held this spring, so sign up soon!

Social Events

  • Lead a Social Event: We have a busy social calendar ahead and need your help to make it happen. Please view all the events here and select one to help lead, with guidance from our Social Chair. View events and sign up here!

  • Social Communications: Help get the word out about social events. Work with social chair and event organizers to develop visual materials, e-blasts, and cheddar up collections for selected social events. Sign up here!

Special Projects

  • Winter Snow Plow: We are in search of a member with the capacity to plow our parking lot in support of a winter event, should the opportunity arise. Sign up here!

  • Photographers: Take photos of the grounds, activities, events. Sign up here!

  • Yoga Coordinator: Work with the board to hep pull together yoga at COPOCO this summer. Sign up here!

  • Invasive Vine Removal: We need a few volunteers to undertake invasive vine removal along property line/forest edge. Work in spring with follow up in late summer. Sign up here!

Fall Tasks

  • Fall Cleanup. Date TBD in September. Help put things away for the winter for the season.

  • Tennis Cleanups I and II in late October. Help put the tennis courts to bed for the winter.
